Harrogate became a city in 1993. The city limits cover an area of 6.58 square miles that contains approximately 4215 acres. With a population of 4389 (based on the 2010 US Census), it’s the largest city in Claiborne County. Harrogate is home to Lincoln Memorial University. On the campus of LMU you will find the Lincoln Museum. The museum houses one of the largest Lincoln Collections in the World.
First known as the “Gateway to the West”, then as the strong hold during the Civil War, Cumberland Gap is now known for everything from its specialty shops to the National Historical Park. Located approximately an hour north of Knoxville, Cumberland Gap is a great place to spend the day, or even spend a weekend.
Town of Tazewell
Tazewell, TN was incorporated in 1801. It is the County Seat of Claiborne County. It is home to Woodlake Golf, Lodge, & Country Club, Norris Lake, Powell River, Tazewell Motor Speedway, and much more. It is located just 45 minutes north of Knoxville.
The Town was incorporated in the 1920’s but the corporate charter was voted out about fifteen years later. It was incorporated for the second time in 1954 with a population of about 350. Today the Town has a population of 3,037 and a strong manufacturing base that includes England’s, a division of Lazy-Boy Furniture, DeRoyal Industries, King Business Forms, Bushline Furniture, Giles Industries mobile home manufacturer, Homesteader Cargo Trailers, and others.
